World Generator Documentation
Archway World Generator draws the world Archway imports: terrain, biomes, provinces and a territory hierarchy, exported as 16-bit heightmaps and CSV tables.
New to World Generator? Follow the four movements in order. They take you from an empty window to a set of files ready for Archway's movement II.
The journey
Find a seed, tune the noise, choose a projection and a resolution.
Paint elevation and biomes by hand, trace from an image.
Cut the map into provinces, then group them into territories.
Write the heightmaps, the province map and the CSV tables.
The rest
- Discover — what the tool does, and how to install it
- Reference — interface, shortcuts, masks, files, glossary
- Troubleshooting — common failures and their fixes
The pipeline
Each stage reads the one before it. You can stop anywhere — a heightmap alone is a valid export — and go back without losing hand-made work.

The files written by movement IV are exactly the ones Archway asks for in Preparing your first world: T_DefinitionMap, DT_Definitions, the heightmap. That is where the two tools meet.
